Out of Conscious

Unconscious System

Introduction

Hey there Agents of Change!

Welcome to  what I call the Pièces de Résistance of Systems of Change… The Out of Conscious Unconscious System!

This week we are going to be exploring all things Out of Conscious Unconscious System. This is:

  • Any system that an individual is unable to bring into awareness, or that they are unaware of, is their out of conscious system.
  • In the areas where a person is dysfunctioning or has pain, the Out of Conscious system could be what is preventing the person from having choices as to change.
  • It is the blocked system– the system that holds the painful memories and the mind has kept hidden.

The Out of Conscious Unconscious System is being used when a person speaks using “visual” language but states they can’t make pictures. Or uses Auditory phrases but thinks they are not Auditory.

When an individual tends to be making feelings out of pictures that they see in the back of their head but aren’t aware of the pictures.

For example;

  • an individual whose visual system is out of conscious, or who says they cannot make visual images, is someone who during some period of their life, was forced to, or accidentally saw things that either looked very scary or cause a great deal of pain.
  • To protect themselves from that pain, they brought down a mental curtain over those (visual) memories, and, if effect, produced amnesia (at least in the visual part of the experience.
  • The pictures from the past are going on internally, but that person is either afraid or too traumatized to see them.
  • To avoid looking at these painful images, they block out “seeing” any pictures.

FAQ

DOES EVERYONE HAVE A OUT OF CONSCIOUS UNCONSCIOUS SYSTEM?
Our job as agents of change is to help the individual to either release the charge, perception or belief that is keeping the individual stuck and to help re-write the metaphor so that the individual is able to move forward in their life.
WHY IS WORKING WITH THE OUT OF CONSCIOUS UNCONSCIOUS SYSTEM SO IMPORTANT?
Working with the individual’s weakest system or unconscious out of conscious system is important because unless every aspect of a issue has been released and re-written (or perception changed) the mind will have the ability to recreate the issue.

When we work with the conscious aspects of an issue the client will have relief and often will be able to say that the issue has changed, but will also be able to recreate it if aspects that are unconscious are not addressed.

WHO WILL I BE WITHOUT THIS?

Another source root of a secondary gain is the need to stay a part of our tribe.  An individual might not like their family or the family behavior but on an unconscious level the unproductive behavior keeps them close to the family.

Or they might not have any other experience so are unable to imagine who they would be with out the behavior.

SECONDARY PAIN AND CHRONIC PAIN?

Secondary gain plays a critical role in patients with chronic pain syndromes.

It includes such things as avoiding onerous tasks;

  • EXAMPLE:    a worker  is injured on the job. Often the patient perceives himself/herself as strong and able to carry on a hard, demanding physical job throughout their working life. However, as he/she reaches his/her early 50s, the body begins to show evidence of age and he/she is no longer able to perform the tasks.
  • Next, he/she develops either a real or perceived injury and disability that prevents him/her from         returning to the job; the individual may not want to return to work, does not want to return to that job in particular, or does not have the skills to find a different job.
  • The regular payments, received from the insurance industry or the disability system, provide a way to avoid going back to work, while providing a living.
