Input Systems

Introduction

Hey there Agents of Change!

This week we are jumping in and discovering the importance of the Unconscious Input System. This system will give us the  information about what “programs” a person is using to generate their conscious experience.

As you gain an understanding of the Unconscious Input system, you’re going to be amazed that you hadn’t been aware of it before.  Once you become comfortable spotting it, you will begin to have an awareness of the important role it plays in creating change.

As with all the “Systems” we have discussed before… an individual is going to have a preferred system but will have different systems in different situations.

It’s also important to understand that the more a person is responding in a  “right here, right now” situation or experiencing with “right here, right now” responses there will be very little use for the input system.  That said, if people were all responding in a “right here, right now” manner their would be very few people in need of our services.

In the areas that individuals are “Stuck” it’s a pretty safe bet that they are using something other than the right here, right now responses. This is where having the mastery of these skills allows you to help them in ways that others have not been able to before.

Have you ever heard the term “Garbage in, Garbage out?’  In the case of the Unconscious Input System… if the individual has taken in garbage… this is exactly what the system will go and find for them… garbage.

In order for us to understand another’s unconscious (Input) system, we must first learn about the different eye movements and positions and what they mean.

There are many references for the Eye Movement Pattern out there, and for our purposes, we are going to be learning  and referencing the eye movements as if the person is sitting in front of us, facing us.

By learning and paying attention to eye movements, you, as a effective communicator and change agent, will be able to ascertain a great deal of  information about how the person sitting in front of you is processing information or their experiences at an unconscious level.

You will be seeing first hand what their program is and then with that, you will be able to start to communicate with them both on an unconscious and conscious level.

We will be primarily looking at the Input System using the Happy Memory… but this is not the only time one will notice the Input System once aware of it.

You might also notice that sometimes the Input is a variation of all three representational systems.  In the video on the next page… notice that even when not discussing the happy memory the individuals will have a lead system… but also access other systems from time to time.

As with the other systems we have learned so far… it is not written in stone.. there will  be variations that we will need to be aware of… and to notice that while speaking of an issue… the input system can vary from the words being used to describe the issue.

fear to say.”

FAQ

WHAT IS SO IMPORTANT ABOUT UNDERSTANDING THE UNCONSCIOUS INPUT SYSTEM?

Understanding the unconscious input system gives you information about how the individuals mind is accessing information.

It gives us information that the individual is more than likely unaware of and allow us to have a better insight into how to start to create leverage for re-imprinting a new positive metaphor.

WHAT IF I DON'T KNOW WHAT INPUT SYSTEM THE PERSON IS USING?

If we have initially missed the eye movements when asking the intake questions we can still get an idea of what the input system is by asking a few questions that do not require us to write anything down that way we can watch what the individual’s eyes are doing.

If you are not comfortable about doing that, you can simply ask at the end of getting the happy memory… “how did you find that… was it a picture, a sensation, or a sound?”

WHAT IF I GET THEM CONFUSED?

For our purposes, we do not need to be pedantic about being exact with the eye movements such as whether it is remembered or constructed… we are focussing on just the Visual, Auditory and Kinesthetic aspects…  what we are interested in is what system they are using to access the information so we can use that language later in the session.

CAN I EMAIL KIM MY QUESTIONS DIRECTLY?

No. You can ask all SOC (Systems of Change) related questions and get feedback from other members in the Facebook group (and Kim is in there regularly). If you have a tech or account problem please email info@kimjewell.com.au
